Ignite Your Potential At Flashpoint Academy, Chicago's First Digital Media Arts College Opening September 2007
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 26, 2007 -- Beginning this September, Flashpoint, Chicago's first digital media arts college, will offer two-year direct-to-industry training programs for high school graduates and adult learners interested in pursuing careers in game development, computer animation, film and recording arts. The 40-hour-per-week program will include classroom instruction in a brand new facility located in the Loop at 28 N. Clark. Approximately 250 students are expected to enroll this year. Flashpoint, The Academy of Media Arts and Sciences, is now accepting applications.
Flashpoint tours and open houses are scheduled from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on July 28, Aug 11 and Aug 25. Tours will meet at 10 a.m. sharp at the main building of the Flashpoint Campus at 28 North Clark, Chicago, just steps from Daley Plaza. Private tours are also available by appointment. For more information or to RSVP, call Lindsay Drucker at 312-332-0707.
"As we open another new college right in the heart of the City, we are grateful for Mayor Daley's continued encouragement, support and commitment to providing accessible higher education to every student in Chicago," Howard A. Tullman, President and CEO of Flashpoint states. "We're also pleased to be building a 'green' facility under the LEED program even though, as Kermit the Frog used to say: 'It isn't easy being green'."
Flashpoint is geared toward those individuals with a passion for anything digital, a desire for creative expression, a story that needs to be told and an imaginative spark that needs ignition. No preparatory classes are required; the only necessities are a high school diploma, strong motivation and a willingness to embrace all that the future has to offer.
Flashpoint is committed to the advancement of higher learning in the field of digital arts and entertainment technologies. Surrounded by peers and educators with a passion for the future, students at Flashpoint can pursue two-year programs in Game Development, Film, Computer Animation and Recording Arts. But education is just the starting point. The desire to do things differently and offer solutions that are revolutionary and bold are key parts of the Academy's mission. Flashpoint's departments simulate the converging digital entertainment industries, and isolated "administrators" no longer control the coursework. Instead, world-class professionals, share their knowledge to develop each curriculum. Real-world tools and techniques, the latest technical developments and trends and hands-on experience are seamlessly integrated into every class. In this way, the efforts of each participant reflect the highest levels of skill, style and technological acumen.
Digital entertainment is an expanding, ever-evolving, trillion-dollar industry, worldwide. Flashpoint is putting its students at the forefront, igniting creativity and preparing the next generation of digital professionals by blazing a new trail to success.

The National Education Budget proposes another cut in art education. The proposed budget continues to subvert the education process and weaken the country's future. "Art nurtures inventiveness and aids self-esteem, creativity, free thinking, and self-motivation," says Ed McCormick, author of "Lesson Plans that Wow." Knowing the value of art as a tool to enhance core curricula, many teachers are voluntarily spending their own dollars for art materials.
